Resurrection Eyes.

this is probably my favorite song right now. seriously. it’s called ”death in his grave” by John Mark McMillian. what a beautiful picture of the reality of sin and death and the resurrection and adoption that happens.

Though the Earth Cried out for blood; Satisfied her hunger was
Her billows calmed on raging seas, for the souls on men she craved

Sun and moon from balcony; Turned their head in disbelief
Their precious Love would taste the sting, disfigured and disdained

On Friday a thief, On Sunday a King
Laid down in grief, But awoke with keys
Of Hell on that day, The first born of the slain
The Man Jesus Christ, Laid death in his grave

So three days in darkness slept; The Morning Sun of righteousness
But rose to shame the throes of death, And over turn his rule

Now daughters and the sons of men,                                             Would pay not their dues again
The debt of blood they owed was rent, When the day rolled a new

On Friday a thief, On Sunday a King
Laid down in grief, But awoke with keys
Of Hell on that day, The first born of the slain
The Man Jesus Christ, Laid death in his grave

He has cheated, Hell and seated Us above the fall
In desperate places He paid our wages, One time once and for all

these words are incredibly moving to me. “sun and moon from balcony turned their head in disbelief, their precious Love would taste the sting, disfigured and disdained.” when i think about the Fall of man - i see this line. God’s broken heart. compassion. us, the Creator’s precious love would taste death, pain, suffering. that pained the Father to see.

but Jesus, the King. through his perfect death, burial and resurrection he claimed victory over death. how death. life defeating death through the death and resurrection of Life.

then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. for he must reign until he has put all enemies under his feet. the last enemy to be destroyed is death. 1 corinthians 15.24-26

death has already been beaten. and the day is coming when the King who has all authority and power will place death beneath his foot. what a day that will be.

until then - i pray us to be the ones who live with the resurrection and return in sight. as we are Christ’s, let us no longer walk into the death. but through the Holy Spirit’s power, we may take on the resurrection of Christ and bring the Kingdom of Heaven to this desperate earth.

Jesus has cheated hell and seated ss above the Fall
in desperate places He paid our wages - one time, once and for all

because of this, we should look, think and act differently. we are not controlled by sin. we are victors of death because of the Spirit of life that lives inside of us.
